Raga Chikitsa is an ancient manuscript that explores the therapeutic effects of raga. Raga, defined as a sequence of selected notes (swaras), evokes specific moods or emotions through carefully chosen combinations. Each raga possesses the ability to induce or intensify feelings ranging from joy to sorrow, and violence to peace. This characteristic serves as the foundation for its musical applications, allowing a vast array of emotions and their subtleties to be expressed within designated rhythms and melodies. Engaging with these ragas—whether through playing, performing, or listening—can serve as a form of therapy (Bagchi, 2003). Numerous studies have identified particular ragas that exert a measurable impact on specific ailments (Sairam, 2004).

The ragas of Indian classical music (Shastric Music) are crafted based on an intricate understanding of the harmonious relationships between the seven swaras and the chakras. This profound knowledge contributes to the significant positive effects that shastric musical compositions have on the mind-body system, as they possess the potential to activate otherwise dormant faculties.
